Hire Interns for your Business. Find quality interns that can be categorized by degree, personality type, past work experience, and other qualifications. To find interns that meet your needs, send us an email at help@scholarshiphelper.org. Tell us what qualifications you need for a potential intern to work for you. Contact Us More Info 5 REASONS TO HIRE AN INTERN Refer to this article on LinkedIn for benefits of hiring interns. Here Interns can bring new ideas to a company and can question old ways to prevent your company from getting stuck in way you have always done things. Interns often can be good at questioning certain processes and can see improved ways of doing things that people that have been working with the company for a long period of time might not be able to see. They are tech-savvy. Interns are well practiced with social media platforms, computer programs, and other technology to help your business grow. Even if you are a young entrepreneur, it is always good to get a second set of eyes to help. It's a trial run. Ever hire an employee that didn't work out for whatever reason? You can hire an intern for a lower wage while seeing if they will work in your work environment. This generally leads to less money lost in hiring the wrong person. In this trial run, you can see their work ethic, personality, and other things that are important to consider when hiring. You can then choose to bring them on as a full-time employee down the road. Give them meaningful tasks that will help them give them a good feel for their industry as well help your company run smoother. Make sure you don’t violate the The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which states that “the employer that provides the training derives no immediate advantage from the activities of the trainees, and on occasion the employer’s operations may actually be impeded.” They are trying to prove something. Interns are working with the hopes of you hiring them after they finish their degree. Becasue of this they will work like they are trying to prove themselves to your. If you are struggling to keep up with the work load you have in your business, they can help you catch up. They do not cost as much as hiring a full time employee with a degree yet they will still have a basic understanding of the things that need to be done. A candidate that accepts an internship is hoping to accomplish something to add to their resume or in future interviews. Your interns will spread the word about your organization. They will share their internship experience with their classmates, friends and family members, and on social media (so make sure it is a good experience!). This is essentially free advertising for your company. You shouldn't hire an intern for any of these reasons: Free Labor. Interns should not replace paid employees. It is important to provide training and mentorship to the intern. They are there to learn skills that will help them in their future career and will report back on their experience. The internship experience you provide will help them decide the direction they would like to go for their career. You don't have goals for the program or are too busy. Interns need a supervisor and mentor—someone that will be able to dedicate time to training them. Your time helping the intern is an investment to hopefully bring on a qualified employee that will have experience working with your business. Just because you need help does not mean you should hire an intern. Contact Us

  • Tips For a Good Application | ScholarshipHelper

What do we want to see in this application? 1 Sell Yourself. Don't be afraid to brag. 2 Only pick a few scholarships or internships to cater your application to. 3 Be concise but powerful. 4 Tell us what you are passionate and what drives you. 5 Reflect on the experiences that taught you the most in life and made you who you are today. 6 Be authentic. 7 Who is your audience and show how you can solve problems? 8 Proof read and edit before you submit. View Scholarship List 8 Tips for writing a good scholarship or internship application 1. Sell yourself. What are you passionate about? What motivates you? What makes you better than all the other candidates that apply? You may feel prideful or overly confident in writing scholarship and job applications, but that is what we and future employers want to hear. This world is a competitive place whether you like it or not. 2. Look through the scholarships and internships and pick a few that really fit you. You can not write good general application that will fit well for every scholarship available. Instead pick a few that you think you have a shot at and cater your application to those scholarships instead! 3. Keep it simple. Don't drone on and on, spend the most time with the most important things. This isn't middle school anymore where there is a minimum word count—in fact its quite the opposite. Choose your words wisely! 4.You don't have to be the best writer to be a good applicant. The world is full of engineers, professional athletes, scientists and so on, many of which are very good at what they do, but did not excel at english in school. Showing what you are passionate about or past projects you have worked on is where you will stand out. Show you are a self-starter and that you are a motivated individual. 5.Tell us about what makes you you. You may not have been class president or been part of 10 extra curricular activities, but maybe you spent your time developing your skills in a sport you love or learning a musical instrument. Different activities teach you different things. The quality of time you spent doing those things can be more important than the amount of activities you were involved in. 6.One of the most important things is be authentic. Tell us about your strengths and weaknesses. We all have them. 7. In the end, people need your help to solve a problem of some sort and they don't want to baby sit you while you work with them. Think of the prompt for an internship or job application as "How can you solve our problems and what makes you the most qualified?" As you answer these two quesitons, you will have a better application than most other competitors. 8. Don't submit an application that looks like a paper you wrote 10 minutes before it was due. Proof read it and make sure everything looks good before you submit it. Have someone look over it as well, a second pair of eyes is always helpful.
